PROVINCES- Christian denominations in Syria that follow the Julian calendar on Sunday celebrated Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Prayers and masses were performed in churches across Syrian governorates.
Masses and prayers were held at Churches and Cathedrals of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Hasaka, Sweida, Tartous, Daraa and Lattakia.
The sermons talked about the sublime meaning of the blessed Easter, SANA reported.
Presidential Affairs Minister Congratulates Heads of Christian Denominations that follow Julian Calendar on Easter
Upon the directives of President Bashar al-Assad, Presidential Affairs Minister Mansour Azzam on Sunday visited heads of Christian denominations that follow the Julian calendar, relaying the congratulations of President al-Assad on occasion of Easter.
Azzam offered congratulations to Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Aphram II and Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East, John X Yazigi.
For his part, Patriarch Aphram II said that Easter celebrations confirm the will of life of the Syrian people to face terrorism and the unjust siege imposed on Syria.
In turn, Patriarch Yazigi said that what the Syrian people are currently living requires more self-reliance, and determination in order to face the unjust blockade on them.
