Premier Discusses with Iraqi Trade Minister Ways of Enhancing Economic and Investment Cooperation

Damascus – Prime Minister Eng. Emad Khamis discussed here on Wednesday with Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammad Hashim Al-Ani means of developing economic relations and expanding trade and investment horizons between Syria and Iraq.

Eng. Khamis underlined the continuation of the Syrian state in its war on terrorism until the liberation of all its territory in parallel with providing all the requirements for the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the war on all levels, pointing to the need to intensify Syrian-Iraqi coordination in the next phase in the fight against terrorism to ensure the safety and security of both countries.

 

Mr. Khamis confirmed the importance of accelerating the reopening of the border crossings, which will positively impact the revitalization of the trade exchange movement and enhance the steadfastness of the two countries in facing the existing challenges, pointing out that Syria is committed to strengthening relations of cooperation with the countries that stood by it and to maintain national ties.

For his part, The Iraqi Minister explained the importance of activating the agreements of the Syrian-Iraqi committee which was signed in order to contribute to the development of cooperation in the fields of energy, oil, electricity, transport, trade exchange and overcoming the remnants of the terrorist war on economic relations.

He pointed to the quality of the Syrian products, which are widely popular in the Iraqi market and their role in reducing the prices of local products, highlighting the efforts being exerted by the Syrian state to combat terrorism and recycling the wheel of production, upgrading local economy and developing trade relations with brotherly countries.
