Astana Talks Should Continue to Be Held to Solve Crisis in Syria: Slovak Foreign Minister

NUR-SULTAN, (ST)- Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs, the current President the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Miroslav Lajčák has affirmed the importance of the continuity of Astana process to resolve the crisis in Syria.

The Slovak News Agency quoted Lajčák as saying following talks with Chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva in the Kazakh Capital Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), that “Astana talks have greatly contributed to progress in the process of finding a political solution to this crisis.”

On her part, Nazarbayeva said “collective efforts should continue to be exerted as to implement the results of Astana meetings”.

 Eleven meetings have so far been held within Astana format. One of them was held in the Russian city of Sochi. All these meeting s have stressed firm commitment to preserving Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and to continue the fight against terrorist organization till their complete elimination.
