Prime Minister Meets Lebanese Minister of Agriculture

Damascus, (ST) – Prime Minister Emad Khamis discussed here with Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Hassan Al-Laqis, relations of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of agriculture, trade, investment, the reconstruction phase and ways of promoting these relations.

Eng. Khamis pointed out the importance of expanding agricultural cooperation between the two countries to cover various agricultural fields, review previous agreements, sign new agreements, enhance cooperation in the domains of transit transport, marketing of agricultural products and facilitating the passage of products through border crossings.

 For his part, the Lebanese minister underlined the importance of the visit in developing common visions to increase agricultural and trade cooperation, overcome obstacles relating products from both countries and the need to open wider horizons for cooperation in the economic and transport fields.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Ahmad Al-Qadri, Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Cabinet Dr. Qais Qidr and President of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council, Nasri Al-Khouri.

In a statement to reporters, Mr. al-Laqis said that the meeting was fruitful and constructive and we discussed many of the joint files between the two countries. He indicated the absolute conformity and cooperation in the agricultural sector and instructions were given to the technical committees of the ministries of agriculture in Syria and Lebanon to study enhancing cooperation in the field of road transport.
