Germany and Japan: We do not Recognize Israel’s annexation of the Golan

Tokyo-Berlin – German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas today renewed his country’s position that the Golan is Syrian land occupied by “Israel” criticizing US President Donald Trump’s remarks on the occupied Syrian Golan

“Our position has not changed in this case and we do not recognize Israel’s decision to annex the Golan, based on Security Council resolutions,” pointing out that “The Golan is part of Syria.” Maas quoted the magazine Contra as saying

A spokeswoman for the German government, Ulrich Dummer, confirmed last Friday that the Golan is Syrian land occupied by “Israel” and that its government rejects unilateral steps about it

The UN Security Council, in 1981, unanimously, including the United States, adopted resolution /497/, which affirmed the legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan as an occupied territory and that the occupying entity’s decision to annex was null and void and had no effect

In the same context, the Secretary-General of the Japanese Cabinet, Yoshihide Suga, said that the position of his country is fixed towards the occupied Syrian Golan and has not changed after Trump’s biased statements with the entity of the Israeli occupation

“We strongly affirm that the government’s policy has never changed and Japan’s position requires not recognizing Israel’s annexation of the occupied Syrian Golan,” Suga said in remarks broadcast on Japan’s TBS television

Syria has condemned strongly the irresponsible remarks of the American president on the occupied Syrian Golan, which confirms the blind bias of the United States to the entity of the Zionist occupation, stressing that these statements will never change the fact that the Golan was and will remain Syrian
