Zakharova Says Situation in Syria’s Idleb “Very Serious”, Stresses Need to Eliminate Terrorism There

MOSCOW-Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reiterated the need to eliminate terrorist organizations in Idleb province , noting that the situation in the province is “very serious” and can’t be allowed to continue as it is, according to SANA.

Speaking at a weekly briefing on Thursday, Zakharova said that the situation in Syria is stable in general, yet the main hotbed of terrorism is still remaining in Idleb and Moscow is looking to make a radical shift there.

 She stressed the need to implement the Russian –Turkish memorandum which was reached in Sochi on September 2018 on the de-escalation zone in Idleb, stressing that this will help stabilize the situation there and eliminate the terrorist threat emanating from there.

Moscow Ready for Dailogue with, UN, US, Jorddan on Rukban Camp

Ealsewher in the weekly briefing that Moscow is ready for unconditional dialogue on Rukban refugee camp with all interested parties, including the US, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursda, according to Itar Tass.

“We are ready to continue unconditional dialogue on the Rukban camp with all the interested parties, including the United Nations, the United States and Jordan, without politicizing the humanitarian aspects of the issue,” she said.

The Rukban camp is located in the Al-Tanf security zone, where a US military base is stationed. Entrances to the zone are controlled by militants. According to the World Health Organization, the camp currently hosts about 40,000 refugees, mostly women and children.
