Syria to Take Part in 29th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in Jordan

AMMAN, (ST)- Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) Speaker Hammouda al-Sabbagh on Saturday arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, to take part in the 29th Conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union (AIPU) scheduled to be held between March 3rd and 4th.

Al-Sabbagh was welcomed in Amman by his Jordanian counterpart Atef al-Tarawneh.

Al-Sabbagh had earlier received an invitation for al-Tarwaneh to take part in the 29th AIPU conference titled “al-Quds, is the Eternal Capital of the State of Palestine”.

“Syria’s invitation to attend the conference is an initiative by the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Jordanian Parliament and is a positive bid to break the isolation some parties have tried to impose on Syria,” Tareq Khouri, member of the Jordanian Parliament said during a Jordanian parliamentary delegation visit to Syria on February 12th.
