Vaccination Campaign for Children Under 5 Launched

DAMASCUS,(ST) -Ministry of Health launched today a national vaccination campaign targeting children under school age. The campaign ,which coincided with International Immunization week continues until April 29.

Director of National Vaccination Program at the Ministry, Dr. Nidal Abu Rashid ,confirmed that the Vaccine is safe without any important side effects that harm children health, because the  Ministry of health is keen  to have  the best types of vaccine in the world.

Dr. Nidal  stressed  that vaccines protect children and society from serious diseases which cause death or disability , but they don’t prevent common diseases like cough, diarrhea, and cold,  noting that vaccine is free and available in all health centers.

It is worthy to mention that the National Vaccination program in Syria started in 1978. It provided protection to millions of  children and achieved  many successes  including the elimination of Polio.
