RABAT, (ST)- Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergie Lavrov has reaffirmed the need to preserve Syria’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a press conference with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita in Rabat on Friday, Lavrov said that the Syrian state’s establishing of control over all its lands is the best step to take as to solve the crisis in the country.
The Russian minister pointed out that the coming Astana meeting on the crisis in Syria will be held in February, reiterating his country’s rejection of foriegn intervention in Syria.
He noted the need to intensify humanitarian aid to Syria in order to create suitable circumstances for the return of displaced Syrians to their homeland.
“Syria needs in more humanitarian assistance to create conditions for the return of refugees and we believe it is a reserve for serious work that is to be done to implement the United Nations Security Council resolutions,” Lavrov said.
On the conspiracy hatched against the legitimate government in Venezuela, Lavrov said the US policy towards Venezuela is destructive and unacceptable.
“It is an unacceptable bahvior that undermines the principles of the UN Charter and the standards of International relations,” he made it clear.
