A group of Syrian ladies with experience in different domains have joined efforts to make effective change in society, a change that reflects positively on women issues and provides enough support for women to help them employ their capacities. To achieve their goal, these ladies established a social institution called “Hayat” (Life) under a license from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affaris.
Dana Abdeen, head of the institution, talked to SANA about the goals of the institution, clarifying that it aims at building the abilities and enhancing the skills and social awarness of individuals, mainly women and youths.
The institution works to help young people get different job opprtunities and to reactivate individuals’ role in society by providing them additional expetise and skills. It also incubates some social projects and initiatives, Abdeen said.
The institution focuses on reactivating women’s role in local communities through enahncing women-related programs and creating safe spaces through which women can implement ability building sessions in participatory reasearch method as to assess the needs of targeted categories, Abdeen added, pointing out that the institution also holds training courses on communications, social entrepreneurship and computer driving for women who are the breadwinners of their families
According to Abdeen, the institution works to boost social activites that support women and create a base for contacts to help them exchange knowledge and success stories. It provides consultations and necessary training that facilitates women’s entry into the job market. In this regard, the institution has joined efforts with some non-government organizations and this cooperation has resulted in ensuring job opprtunities to many women.
Abdeen also said that the establishment has carried out several clubs for kids and teenagers on financial and social education in Damascus, in addition to several awarness workshops on children-related laws and about children rights.
