Al-Moallem, Newly Appointed Russian Ambassador Discuss Syria-Russia Strategic Partnership

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem on Monday met the new Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Syria Alexander Yefimov and received a copy of his credentials.

During the meeting al-Moallem and the newly oppointed ambassador discussed the strategic partnership between Syria and Russia and ways of enhancing cooperation in all fields including the economic, political and social domains.

 The two sides also focused in their discussions on the continuity of fighting terrorism as developments in the regional and international arenas have proved the importance of this partnership and the need to boost it for the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

 Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Alexander Yefimov as Russian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Syria in October 2018, according to Tass.

Yefimov has great experience of work in the Russian Foreign Ministry’s central office and abroad, including in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Jordan. He has worked as Russian Ambassador to the UAE since April 2013.
