Russia, Egypt want prompt ceasefire in Syria and talks, oppose outside interference – Putin

The participants in the top-level Russian-Egyptian negotiations addressed the situation in Syria and called for prompt negotiations between the parties to the conflict in Syria.

“Russia and Egypt want a prompt ceasefire in Syria and the launch of negotiations in Syria,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said after the negotiations, according to Voice of Russia.

“Both countries agree that there is a need for a political and legal solution to the crisis in Syria without outside interference,” he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he was pleased and to a certain extent surprised at the pace of improvement in Russian-Egyptian relations, a Voice of Russia correspondent reports.
