US in No Position to Lecture on Breach of Resolution 2231, Says Zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister in a message warned the US not to lecture anyone on violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.

‘Iran’s launch of space vehicles – & missile tests – is NOT in violation of Res 2231. The US is in material breach of same, & as such it is in no position to lecture anyone on it.

Reminder to the US:

1. Res 1929 is dead;

2. threats engender threats, while civility begets civility,’ Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted late Thursday.

The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1929 was adopted on June 9, 2010 and imposed severe economic sanctions against Iran.

However, on July 20, 2015, and after a nuclear deal between Iran and six countries (US, Russia, Britain, France, China, and Germany) Security Council approved Resolution 2231, which removed all the nuclear-related sanctions against Iran.
