Russia, Iran Welcome Syrian Army’s Entry to Manbej, Stress the Step Helps Stabilize the Situation in Syria

MOSCOW- Russia has welcomed the entry of the Syrian army to Menbej, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov calling it a positive step.

“Of course, this will help in stabilizing the situation. The enlargement of the zone under the control of government forces… is without doubt a positive step,” he said in a statement on Friday.

On its part, Iran deemed the raising of Syria’s national flag in the city of Manbej an important step toward the establishment of the legitimate rule of Syrian government over the entire country, Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday, according to Mehr Agency.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi welcomed the Syrian army’s entry to the city of Manbij near the Turkish border, saying “the Islamic Republic of Iran highlights the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and considers the raising of Syria’s national flag in the city of Manbij an important step toward the establishment of the legitimate rule of Syrian government over the entire country, as well as a new step toward solving the crisis in this country.”
