TEHRAN– Past experiences show that Iran does not remain silent in the face of moves aimed at destabilizing the region, Head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi said.
“We have proved that we do not remain silent on instability in the region but stand against destabilizing moves,” Kharrazi, a former foreign minister, said on Monday.
Describing Iran as the most stable country in the region, he added, “Following the wars in the region, everybody is coming to the conclusion that it is not possible to resolve conflicts through war.”
Kharrazi concluded that what happened in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen proved that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s regional presence contributes to security, according to the Tasnim News Agency.
In comments in September, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a top military aide to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, said sustainable security in the region would be impossible without Iran.
Hailing Iran’s contribution to the security of regional countries at the request of their governments, he said the Islamic Republic has inspired regional governments and nations in such a way that “Americans have to pull out of West Asia, east of the Euphrates river in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.”
