Russia Willing to Cooperate with UN on Basis of Achieving Syrian People’s Interests

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad has stressed that Syria is a founder member of the United Nations and it is willing to cooperate with the UN on the basis of achieving the Syrian people’s interests and in a way that contributes to ending the brutal terrorist war waged on Syria.

He made the remarks during a ceremony held to bid farewell to the Resident UN Coordinator  in Syria Ali Al-Zaatari on the occasion of the end of his mission in Syria.

 He affirmed that hoped-for results can be reached when the work of the organization is not politicized, said al-Mikdad.

Commenting on the end of al-Za’tari’s mission in Syria, al-Mikdad said the UN official’s mission in Syria was characterized by positive cooperation to solve all the problems that faced efforts aiming to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people because of the crisis.

On his part, al-Za’tari, who thanked the Syrian officials for their cooperation with him during his mission, stressed that Syria’s relation with the United Nations is improving and work continues as to build these relations on the right principles of dealing between sovereign and independent countries on the one hand and an organization whose main goal is cooperation in the humanitarian filed on the other.
