DARAA, (ST)- 1439 Syrian citizens, who were previously displaced because of terrorism, have returned over the past week to their homeland across Naseeb border crossing at the Syrian-Jordanian borders.
Mazen Ghandour, Head of the Immigration and Passports Center at the Naseeb crossing, said the number of displaced Syrians returning across the borders with Jordan increased remarkably over the past week to reach 1439. The increase comes in parallel with the facilitation offered by the Syrian embassy in Amman to the Syrians who left their country illegally across the borders and who want to return.
Ghandour added that the total number of returned Syrians has reached 4219 since the opening of the Naseeb border crossing in mid October, pointing out that the return of security and stability to most Syrian areas thanks to the Syrian Arab army’s gains against terrorism has encouraged the displaced Syrians to return home to their villages.
On October 28th, a number of displaced Syrian families returned from the refugee camps in the Jordanian territories to their towns and villages liberated from terrorism by the Syrian army.
