Atrocious Record

The int’l coalition’s barbaric attacks against innocent civilians have become systematic and deliberate acts using internationally-prohibited weapons of huge destructive capability such as the white phosphorus bombs.

Tens of civilians were martyred or injured two days ago after the US-led international coalition’s warplanes launched new airstrikes on Abu al-Hasan village in southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor under the pretext of fighting Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization.

Earlier, about 43 civilians, mostly women and children, were martyred on November 13 in an aggression launched by warplanes of the US-led “International Coalition” on al-Buqa’an village in the surrounding of Hajin town, about 110 km  southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Local sources talked about continued heavy shelling carried out by coalition aircrafts on  Hajin city and the villages and towns affiliated to it where dozens of houses were destroyed and hundreds of families were displaced. The massacre committed by the coalition is added to a series of  massacres committed earlier in Hajin city, villages and towns of al-Sha’fah, al-Boubadran and al-Sousse, calming the lives of more than 100 civilians.

US-led coalition aircrafts also bombed villages and towns in the countryside of Deir Ezzor with internationally banned white phosphorus and cluster bombs.

A serious and an immediate action should be taken to stop such attacks and massacres and to take necessary measures to set an independent international mechanism to probe into these crimes, condemn them and to punish perpetrators.

 The US-led coalition launched aggressions on the Syrian territories under the pretext of combating Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization, targeting residential areas in Deir Ezzor countryside with cluster bombs.

The heinous crimes committed by the illegal US-led int’l coalition against civilians in  Deir Ezzor and other nearby areas, expose once again the United States’ false claims of combating terrorism and demonstrate the coalition member countries’ reckless disregard for the lives of innocent people and the international laws. These crimes confirm that the US goal is killing as many Syrian people as possible and inflicting further destruction on infrastructure in the context of continuing the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the coalition. In other words, it aims at undermining Syria’s future, sovereignty and territorial integrity and hindering political settlement to the crisis in the country which constitutes a blatant breach of all UNSC resolutions on Syria. The US and its allies continue to commit these crimes, meanwhile the UN Security Council maintains sinister silence towards these massacres as it has failed to take any action to put an end to those crimes. The UN Security Council should shoulder its responsibilities through a serious and an immediate action to prevent the reoccurrence of such attacks and massacres and to take necessary measures to set an independent international mechanism to probe into these crimes, condemn them and to punish perpetrators.

The continued  bombing of civilian houses in  Deir Ezzour , Hasaka, Raqqa and other areas by the warplanes of the US-led international coalition is a clear evidence of the US support of terror groups and its unwillingness to reach a political  settlement for the crisis in Syria. These  crimes committed by the illegal coalition has claimed the lives of scores of civilians and caused huge material damage to public and private properties. The coalition’s persistence in committing massacres, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, along with its continuing support for terrorists and its exploitation of terrorists and separatist militias show that the Security Council is negligent in enforcing international law and in putting an end to the coalition’s hostile plots that target Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and seek to prolong the crisis. The illegitimate US-led International Coalition’s targeting of civilians in the villages of al-Hasaka, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor is a retribution for their refusal to join US-allied separatist militias.The illegal US and foreign presence on the Syrian territories should be terminated immediately. The US hostile polices in Syria, the region and the world lack ethical grounds because it has become part and parcel of the threats which endanger international peace and security. Amnesty International said that the US-led coalition attacks on Raqqa city last year under the pretext of combating terrorism amount to war crimes. According to Amnesty International report, the US-led coalition attacks on Raqqa broke international law as the US did not take sufficient account of civilians or take the precautious measures to minimize casualties while attacking Raqqa in 2017.

The true “achievements” of the so-called international coalition were killing thousands of innocent civilians using the dirtiest kinds of weapons and destroying the Syrian infrastructure, including dams, bridges, hospitals, schools, and developmental facilities and economic resources.There are many massacres committed by the coalition including those in al-Mayadeen and al-Bukamal in May 2017, in al-Soura, al-Dablan, al-Mayadeen, Dhiban, and Tal al-Shayer in June 2017, in al-Zayanat and Kashkash in July 2017, and in the southern countryside of Hasaka, al-Shafa, Dhahret Alouni, and al-Bahra in February 2018. The illegal US military existence in Syria has several menacing objectives, mainly prolonging the crisis in Syria, undermining the political solution of the crisis, serving the Zionist agenda and weakening the resistance axis against Israel.
