Syria, Iran to Enhance Investment Cooperation and Production

Tehran- The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Amir Amini, confirmed the importance of the long-term economic cooperation agreement between Syria and Iran and the need to enhancing cooperation in various economic, investment and production areas.

During a meeting here with the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, chaired by Dr. Hussein Ragheb al-Hussein and the Vice-Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, he stressed the Iranian position in supporting and strengthening relations with Syria, pointing out that the Syrian-Iranian partnership is strategic.

Mr. Amini pointed to the need to establish branches of banks in the two countries to facilitate financial transactions and activate the work of chambers of commerce between the two sides, which facilitates the work of economic activities and transactions, calling for the promotion of economic relations to the level of political and strategic relations.

For his part, Mr. Hussein said that reconstruction is the title of the next stage economy, while working in a balanced manner on the restoration of all other sectors, especially small, medium and industrial ones.

Mr. Al Hussein pointed out that the investment climate in Syria is appropriate, stressing the importance of finding the mechanism of building commercial companies in Syrian industrial sectors with competitive advantages such as textile industries, fabrics and furnishings.

For his part, the Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, reiterated the importance of measures by the Iranian side to complete the steps of signing the long-term strategic economic cooperation agreement as soon as possible and put it into effect.

Mr.  Mahmoud called for active participation by the Iranian companies in the public and private sectors in the investment projects in Syria in various productive, industrial and agricultural sectors and in the reconstruction phase and the work effectively on the translation of the agreements that took place to start the phase of integration and partnership in economic relations between the two countries.
