Parliamentarians of the World Need to Join Efforts to Lift the Sanctions Imposed on the Syrians

MADRID, (ST)- Parliamentarians of the world should join efforts as to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrians, the Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) delegation participating in the Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition held in the Spanish capital Madrid, has stressed, noting the negative impacts of these measures on the Syrians’ life.

During the summit, held on October 20-30, the People’s Assembly member and head of the delegation Adnan Suleiman, talked about the big damage caused to all production sectors in Syria because of the unjust sanctions, particularly agriculture which is the main source of food.

He pointed out that the Syrian government has spared no effort as to alleviate the negative impacts of the sanctions imposed on the Syrian citizens by western countries  which are supporting the terrorism that has been targeting Syria.

 Parliamentary delegations from all countries of the world are taking part in this global summit which is organized by the World Food Organization FAO.

The Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition is a joint initiative of the Spanish Parliament, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Latin America and the Caribbean Parliamentary Front against Hunger.

The Summit builds on the work carried out by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and FAO since 2006, with the support of the Latin America and the Caribbean Parliamentary Front against Hunger, within the Hunger-Free Latin America and the Caribbean Initiative, incorporating the legislative powers in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, according to FAO website.
