Situation on Ground in Syria Is Good after Army’s Achievements in Most Syrian Areas: Defense Minister

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  The scheme which targeted Syria has failed to achieve its goals because of the steadfastness of the Syrian people, the heroism of the army and the wisdom of the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad, Defense  Minister, General  Ali Abdullah Ayoub has stressed.

Gen. Ayoub, who was speaking during a People’s Assembly session on Thursday, said that the situation on ground is good militarily given the army’s achievements in most Syrian areas. He affirmed that the Syrian army is always ready to assume its responsibilities in restoring security and stability to the entire Syrian territory.

 Gen. Ayoub made it clear that the Syrian state will deal with the areas, where terrorists still have presence and on which Washington continues to bet, through two ways; either through local reconciliation and the return to the State sovereignty or through military operation.

“Idleb province is not different. It , like any other Syrian area, will return to the state sovereignty whether Syria’s enemies accept it or not,” the minister said.

He went on to say that “Syria considers the American and British presence on the Syrian territories as illegal and it violates the sovereignty of an independent UN member state.”

He pointed out that “Washington has lost its cards in Syria after most areas returned to the state sovereignty and become free of terrorism which has been backed by the United States and described as moderate”.
