Russia concerned about Syrian opposition’s involvement with terrorists – Russian Foreign Ministry
Russia is concerned about the fact that armed Syrian opposition units are working with militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra movement, which has openly admitted its involvement with al-Qaeda, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova said in her commentary, which was posted on the Foreign Ministry’s website, that the leader of Jabhat al-Nusra “has publicly confirmed that militants from Jabhat al-Nusra” obey orders issued by Sheikh Zavahiri and are loyal to al-Qaeda,according to Voice of Russia.
“We are also alarmed by the fact that the statements by some Syrian opposition leaders of their ideological differences with Jabhat al-Nusra is not preventing their armed units from fighting against the lawful government of Syria hand in hand with international terrorists,” she said.
