Six Civilian, Previously Abducted by Daesh During Attack on Swedia Villages, Were Released

SWEIDA, (ST)- A group of six civilians, including women and children, who were kidnapped by Daesh terrorists when they attacked al-Shibki village in Sweida eastern countryside in July 2018, has been released.

Amer al-Ashi, Sweida Governor, said in a statement upon receiving the released abductees that under the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad, our armed and security forces carried out an 83-day military operation in the depth of Sweida eastern badia (desert) to chase Daesh terrorists and managed to kill many terrorists.

The army’s tight siege on the terrorists and the efforts of concerned parties led to the liberation of six civilians, including two women and four children, who were previously kidnapped by Daesh during its attack against a Sweida village. The released people are among the 29 peoples abducted by Daesh.

In a statement to SANA reporter in Sweida, the released abductees thanked the Syrian Arab army and all concerned parties for  contribution to liberating them, ridding them of the suffering caused by abduction conditions and helping them return to their relatives and normal life.

The two released women said that they suffered illnesses, hunger and harsh weather conditions during their abduction in the desert. They expressed hope that the army and the concerned parties will be able to liberated the rest of the abductees as soon as possible.

Relatives of the liberated abductees said they were very happy for seeing their loved ones again and hoped that other abductees will be released soon.

On July 25, 2018, Daesh terrorists attacked the villages of Sweida eastern and northern countryside killing many people and kidnapping many others. The attacks coincided with suicide bombings in the city of Sweida that resulted in the martyrdom of several people and the kidnapping of scores of civilians from al-Shibki village, most of them women and children.
