DAMASCUS, (ST)- Interior Minister, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ibrahim al-Shaar has announced that Syria and Jordan have agreed to reopen Nassibe-Jaber border crossing as of Monday, October 15, 2018.
In a statement to SANA, the minister said that the Syrian-Jordanian technical committee met today at the Jaber checkpoint at the borders between the two countries and reached an agreement on the arrangements and procedures to be taken for reopening the Nassib-Jaber crossing between the two countries as of tomorrow.
According to Sputnik, the Jordanian government spokeswoman said that the border crossing between Jordan and Syria will reopen on Monday.
“This was a crucial artery of trade between Jordan and Syria and transit to other countries,” said Jordanian government spokeswoman Jumana Ghunaimat.
In July, the Syrian Arab army regained control of the border crossing, which was captured by terrorists in early 2015, and restored security in the area. Later, rehabilitation works started in the crossing and the road leading to it as to complete all the logistic procedures necessary for its reoperation in order to restore the transport movement of passengers and goods.
