Foreign-Backed Asayish Militias Massacre a Number of Syrian Army Military Security Personnel in Qamishli

HASAKA, (ST)-The foreign-backed militias called Asayish have ambushed and massacred a number of Syrian army military security personnel in Qamishli city in the Syrian province of Hasaka.

According to local sources, a group of the so-called Asayish- the military wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)- intercepted a patrol for the army near al-Hasaka roundabout in Qamishli and opened fire on army personnel without any warning, causing the martyrdom of many of them.  The sudden attack forced the army members to retaliate, killing a number of the attackers, the Syrian news agency SANA reported.

The so-called Asayish forces previously committed crimes of kidnapping and blackmailing as well as aggressive acts against the locals in Hasaka, threatening the stability and security in the entire province.

The Syrian Arab army ended the terrorist presence in Hasaka in August, 2015 and nothing has disturbed the security of the province except some aggressive and provocative practices by the Asayish militias.

Yesterday’s  heinous aggression, which is not the first by Asayish militias, comes at a time when the US, which deploys a number of its soldiers in some regions of Haska- in violation of the international legitimacy and the Syrian sovereignty- sends arms to the terrorist organizations and to some local militias to destabilize the situation there.

Over the past weeks, Asayish militias, which is known of getting support and arms from foreign forces, mainly the United States, have disturbed the situation in Qamishli, causing disorder and tension after breaking into schools, controlling them and imposing certain curricula that is different from that of the Syrian Ministry of Education.  As a result, hundreds of locals took to the streets to protest Asayish provocations. They forced the milita members to leave the schools and reopen them.
