UN Spokesperson: Efforts to Reach Political Solution in Syria Continue

NEW YORK – Spokesperson for the United Nations stressed the international organization’s continued efforts to push for a political solution to the crisis in Syria, SANA reported.

SANA said that Sputnik news agency quoted the international organization’sspokesperson as saying that a permanent solution to the crisis in Syria can only be achieved through a political process and the UN will make arduous efforts to push forward this process.

 He refuted news about having confidential documents regarding Syriathat prevent the organization from dealing with the state in the reconstruction stage, adding that the UN regularly discusses priorities and approaches concerning Syria taking into consideration the changing realities.

The Spokesperson added that guiding principles and rules have been set up within the framework of the UN’s consultations and unified system in order to provide support and aid to needy people throughout the Syrian territory based on principles of equity and discrimination and in accordance with its Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
