DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria and Abkhazia have affirmed the importance of launching bilateral ties that serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
The affirmation came during a meeting between Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and the Abkhazian President’s Envoy who is visiting Syria.
Al-Moallem stressed that the visit of the Abkhazian President Envoy to Syria reflects the two countries’ interest in strengthening bilateral relations.
Several agreements are due to be signed soon as a framework for cooperation relations, said al-Moallem.
On his part, the Abkhazian envoy highly appreciated the Syrian Arab Republic’s stance on recognizing Abkhazia and supporting its independence. He stressed his country’s willingness to enhance relations with Syria in all fields.
