US and Its Allies Should Withdraw from Syria
SOCHI, (ST)- The United States and its allies should immediately withdraw from Syria because their presence in the country is illegal, underscored Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, head of the Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation to the 10th round of talks on Syria held within Astana format on July 30 and 31 in the Russian city of Sochi
In a press conference after the end of the talks, al-Jaafari expressed optimism over the great military progress achieved by the Syrian Arab army in its operation against terrorists in Syria’s southern area, particularly after the terrorists fled the area across Israel to Jordan from where they are going to be moved to the West.
The senior Syrian diplomat stressed that the Syrian government strongly encourages local reconciliations, so it will be good if Idleb returns through these reconciliation bids otherwise the Syrian Arab army will restore the city via military operation.
Al-Jaafari talked about the US and Israeli support for the terrorists in Syria, referring to the scandal represented in Israel’s providing protection for the terrorists of the White Helmets and smuggling them to Europe. Likewise, he said, the terrorists who attacked Sweida and committed a massacre there came from al-Tanf area where US troops are illegally deployed.
He noted that the White Helmets’ members have been cooperating with terrorists and they have plotted several false flag attacks, including the alleged chemical attacks in Syria.
Al-Jaafari went on to say that Israel’s violations in Syria’s southern areas don’t differ from Turkey’s violations in northern Syria.
Turkey has violated its obligations under the Astana agreements regarding the de-escalation area in Idleb, al-Jaafari said, adding that it has sent heavy military equipments to Idleb and then occupied Afrin city and dispalced its locals. Turkey also replaced the citizens’ Syrian identity card by Turkish ones and introduced Turkish lira in regions under its control.
On the 10th round of Astana talks in Sochi, he said they were fruitful as they produced some important ideas, particularly the return of displaced Syrians home, stressing that the main obstacle hindering the return of the displaced Syrians is the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people by the United States and the European Union. He urged immediate lifting of these unfair measures.
Al-Jaafari pointed out that there is a notable progress in the file of the Kidnapped and the abductees discussed during the 10th round of talks on Syria in Sochi.
