Facilitating Syrian Refugees Return Home, Top Priority in Syria: Tehran

TEHRAN – Hossein Jaberi Ansari, senior aide to Iranian Foreign Minister, said that now is the time for easing the process of repatriation of Syrian refugees, Mehr news agency reported.

“Facilitating the return of the dislocated refugees, the commencement of the committee to reform Syrian Constitution and the activation of the committee for the exchange of detainees and missing persons are the priorities at the current stage for the Syrian government,” said Hossein Jaberi Ansari, senior aide to Iranian Foreign Minister, Mehr said.

The Iranian diplomat made the remarks during a Saturday meeting with Francois Senemaud who has been recently named as President Emmanuel Macron’s personal representative for Syria. Prior to this new task, Senemaud was serving as French Ambassador to Tehran.

The Iranian senior diplomat said that the situation is now ripe for three steps as terrorists are getting defeated and the legitimate Syrian government is reclaiming control over more territories.

Senemaud, for his part, also pointed out that Iran as a major country and regional power can play an important role in the stability of  the region and in the process of solving the political crisis in Syria.
