DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Anatoly Bibilov of South Ossetia on Tuesday visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Damascus and laid a wreath on the tomb in appreciation of the sacrifices and heroism of the Syrian Arab army soldiers in the confrontation of terrorism.
President Biblov, accompanied by Higher Education Minister Atef Naddaf and Awqaf Minster Mohmmad Abdul Sattar al-Sayyed, toured the most remarkable historical and religious sites in old Damascus, starting with the Ummayad Mosque and the surrounding Damascene souks.
He visited al-Azem Palace, which is one of the most important buildings and one of best examples of early Damascene houses architecture. He also visited Khan Asa’d Pasha, the Church of Saint Hananiya in Damascus and Sayedet Sednaya Church in the town of Sednaya in Damascus countryside.
Bibilov started on Monday a three-day visit to Syria during which he meets senior Syrian officials and holds talks on cooperation.
