Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, assigned Lebanese MP Tammam Salam to form the new Lebanese government.
Spokesman for the Information Office at the Baabda Palace said in a statement on Saturday : “After completing parliamentary consultations on the nomination of Prime Minister-designate and consultation by President Suleiman with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and binding parliamentary consultations , President Suleiman summoned Parliamentarian Tammam and asked him to form a new government in Lebanon. “
For his part, Prime Minister-designate said in a statement from Baabda Palace: “I was commissioned to form the government and accepted this assignment on the ground of binding consultations conducted by President Suleiman.”
He explained he would seek to form a government of national interest, and to work for all Lebanon , extending thanks to all Lebanese parliamentary blocs who entrusted their confidence in him
He called for the need to get Lebanon out of political division and fragmentation , stemming from the need to consolidate national visions ,commitment to the Taif Accord and the Constitution.
