DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Tuesday that Syria and the Republics of Abkhazia and Ossetia have agreed to exchange recognition and establish diplomatic ties at embassy level.
A ministry source said in a statement to SANA that “to embody the common will to boost relations, the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republics of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia have agreed to exchange recognition and establish diplomatic relations at embassy level.”
The source added Syria’s stance came in an appreciation for the support of Abkhazia and Ossetia for Syria against the terrorist war imposed on the country.
