Pakistan Backs Syria’s Unity and Supports Political Solution to Crisis in the Country

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Eliminating the rest of terrorism strongholds in Syria, perpetuating local reconciliation, guaranteeing the return of citizens, displaced by terrorism, to their residence areas and starting reconstruction are Syria’s top priorities at present, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh al-Sabbagh has stressed.

During his meeting on Monday with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Syria Rashed Kamal, al-Sabbagh expressed hope that parliamentary relations between Syria and Pakistan will be enhanced to serve their common interests, particularly because the two countries are linked by historical relations.

On his part, the Pakistani ambassador affirmed his country’s support for the unity of the Syrian land and people, noting the distinguished ties between the two countries and referring to Pakistan’s efforts at international forums in support for political solution to the crisis in Syria.

The Pakistani diplomat congratulated the Syrian people, army and leadership on the victories achieved in the fight against terrorism, pointing out that his country had suffered a lot from foreign-backed terrorism.
