President Al-Assad: Boosting Syria’s Economic Cooperation with Iran Important Means to Resist Western Schemes

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Enhancing Syria’s economic cooperation with Iran and all the countries that adhere to defending their sovereignty and independence is one of the most important means to resist western schemes which adopt sanctions and coercive economic measures as to tighten siege on peoples and subjugate them to western hegemony, President Bashar Al-Assad has underscored.

President Al-Assad made the remarks during his meeting with Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi who is also head of the Iranian side in the Syrian-Iranian joint ministerial economic committee.

Talks during the meeting dealt with boosting economic ties to the level of the strategic political and military cooperation between the two countries.

 The Iranian minister, on his part, congratulated President Al-Assad and the Syrian people on the major achievements made by the Syrian Arab army and its allies in the war on terrorism. He stressed Iran’s continuous support for Syria in all domains and expressed his country’s readiness to effectively take part in the process of reconstruction.
