Over 50,000 Civilians Returned to Their Homes in Eastern Ghouta as Flow of Returnees Continues

DAMASCUS-An estimated 50,000 civilians have so far returned to their homes in the towns and villages of Eastern Ghouta after Syrian Arab Army restored security and stability to them, according to SANA.

A military source told SANA that civilians continue to flow back to liberated areas of Eastern Ghouta as the number of returnees reached 50,000.

The return of citizens comes as authorities in Damascus countryside continue to provide basic services, reopen schools, remove debris and open streets to facilitate the arrival of maintenance workshops to all neighborhoods to complete maintenance works.

 On Thursday, Deputy Governor of Damascus Countryside Rateb Adas told SANA that more than 12,000 persons are still living in Kafr Batna, indicating that more than 150,000 citizens are residing in the villages and towns of Haza, Saqba, Hamoria, Jisreen, Ein Tarma and Zamalka.

Damascus Countryside governorate, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, is continuously distributing humanitarian aid in the villages and towns of Eastern Ghouta in addition to providing free medical services. More than 12,000 students have returned to schools in Eastern Ghouta and makeshift centers so far.
