Christians in Syria Celebrate Easter, Pray for Peace in the Country

DAMASCUS- Syrian Christian denominations following the Gregorian calendar marked Easter, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, by holding prayers and masses at all churches in different provinces, including in Damascus, Aleppo, Sweida, Daraa, Hassaka, Lattakia, Tartous and Homs.

Celebrating Easter was confined to performing  prayers and masses during which worshippers pray for peace, security and stability all over Syria after terrorism is eliminated thanks to the sacrifices and heroic deeds of the Syrian Arab army in the battle against takfiri terrorists.

Preachers hailed the sublime meaning of Easter, stressing the need to carry the message of resurrection and calling for abandoning hatred and enhancing amity and tolerance among the peoples.

They urged adherence to national unity and continuous support for the Syrian Arab army, the defender and the protector of the homeland against terrorism, conspiracies and aggression.

Syria will continue to be the land of amity and peace and the cradle of civilizations and heavenly religions, preachers stressed.

On this occasion, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh, delegated by President Bashar Al-Assad, visited the heads of Christian denominations in Damascus who follow the Gregorian calendar, and conveyed to them the congratulations of President al-Assad.
