Syria and DPRK: An Excellent Example of Strong Bilateral Cooperation

DAMASCUS- A history of strong bilateral relations binds Syria and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) which has been embodied over the years by agreements and protocols based on mutual respect for the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries and the keenness to develop their relations, according to SANA.

The areas of successful cooperation between Syria and the DPRK are numerous and multi-leveled, including economy, trade, technology, sports, culture as well as the media field which particularly saw cooperation renewed and a news exchange agreement between the Syrian Arab News Agency and the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) signed in 2014.

In the political arena, Pyongyang’s support for Syria is one of the most prominent pillars of the DPRK’s policy as it has repeatedly stressed its solidarity with Syria in the face of terrorism and its support for its non-negotiable right to restore the occupied Syrian Golan.

On the other hand, the Syrian Arab Republic has reiterated its support for the just demand of the DPRK to settle the situation in the Korean Peninsula peacefully as it has always called on the US to conclude a peace agreement that will consolidate confidence, end the Korean war and restore security and stability to the Korean Peninsula.
