DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has renewed its call for immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Turkish occupation forces from the Syrian territories, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Monday, stressing that this occupation is a flagrant violation of international law.
In a statement to SANA, the source made it clear that officials of the Turkish regime have recently made statements about the end of what they call “security threat” posed by the presence of militants in the Syrian city of Afrin and about the Turkish regime’s “intention” to withdraw its forces from the Syrian territories.”
“Taking seriously the Turkish officials’ statements, which are deceptive and lack even the minimum level of credibility, the question which poses itself is “what the government of the Justice and Development Party is waiting for to withdraw its invading forces from Syria if the alleged security threat has been eliminated,” the source said, stressing that the presence of militants in afrin had been used by the Turkish regime as a pretext to justify its aggression on the city.
The source concluded by saying that “Syria demands the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Turkish occupation forces from the Syrian lands and calls on the international community to put an end to the Turkish aggression which killed, wounded and displaced thousands of Afrin locals.”
