Russian Humanitarian Assistance to Be Delivered to Citizens Who Left Eastern Ghouta

DAMASCUS-Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudah Sabbagh discussed on Thursday with a delegation from the Russian State Duma, headed by Dmitry Sablin, the bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in all domains.

During the meeting, Sabbagh expressed Syrian people’s appreciation for the Russian stance in combating terrorism, saying that the delegation’s visit will strengthen the ongoing alliance between the two countries, according to SANA.

Sabiln, who is also the Chairman of the Russian- Syrian Friendship Association, said that the delegation’s visit aims at providing humanitarian assistance to the evacuated persons from Eastern Ghouta, in cooperation with the Russian military in Syria, and to provide electricity generators to seven schools in Deir Ezzor, in addition to providing a number of wheelchairs for a number of wounded Syrian army’s personnel.

 He added that he is charged by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia to provide assistance for the restoration of one of the monasteries in Maaloula and that the delegation was briefed on the process of restoration there.

The Russian parliamentary delegation also met with the members of the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship association of the People’s Assembly as talks focused on means to strengthen and activate the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.
