Handing Over Syria’s Seat to a “Body” Violates AL Charter- Medelci

ALGIERS,(ST)_ Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci  stressed that his country ‘s stand in refusing  handing over Syria ‘s seat to the Arab league  is based on the AL Charter, which does not allow granting the seat of a state  “to a body “, pointing out that Algeria pursues a policy of non-interference in  the affairs of other countries.

In an interview with Algerian French-speaking public radio , the Algerian Foreign Minister said  that “the  AL Charter does not allow granting a seat to a body ,” adding that any decision  taken by part  of the Syrians under external pressure, will have a very short life .

Medelci pointed his country ‘s  identical position of  concerning of the so-called Arab Spring , adding,  “We never had any differences in our view to  changes happened  in the Arab countries starting from  Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and  then Syria.”

The Algerian Foreign Minister pointed out that Algeria wants to be respected as a state  and does not permit  itself to intervene in other countries’ s  affairs.

On the other hand,  Medelci expressed “hope for achieving progress in the Western Sahara issue” especially with the launch of the new mission  by the UN Special  Envoy Christopher Ross.

“I would like Ross’s new visit  to make  progress between the Moroccan authorities and the Polisario Front.”The Algerian Foreign Minister stressed.
