DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)-The Syrian Arab army on Thursday secured the exit of thousands of civilians from eastern Ghouta via Hammoureyya humanitarian corridor.
The civilians have been trapped for years by the terrorists in Ghouta.
SANA reporter said that army units and teams of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) have been prepared since morning to ensure the departure of a new batch of civilians from Ghouta via Hammoureyya corridor which was opened earlier today.
The army units received the locals and families leaving eastern Ghouta, supplied them with water and food and moved them to safe places in temporary housing centers that are equipped with all basic requirements, said the reporter.
Over the past two days, the army secured the exit of hundreds of besieged civilians from Ghouta via al-Wafideen humanitarian corridor.
Some of the civilians talked to SANA, expressing their happiness over freedom from the siege of the terrorist organizations which used the population in eastern Ghouta as hostages and human shields. They called on all the locals who are still inside Ghouta to strongly resist the terrorist groups and liberate themselves from their crimes.
They pointed out that during the past period, they tried to leave but the terrorist groups prevented them by the force of weapon.
The terrorists repeatedly shoot fire on civilians trying to leave Ghouta through the humanitarian corridors assigned by the government for this purpose.
