West’s Chemical Attacks Allegations Aim to Block Implementing International Resolutions Calling for Preserving Syria’s Sovereignty, Unity

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The new misleading campaign and claims made by the countries colluding with terrorists regarding the alleged use of chlorine in Eastern Ghouta come within the framework of the scheme to block the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions relating to preserving Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry’s national committee on implementing Syria’s obligations in light of its accession to Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) said that Syria has regularly informed the UN General Secretariat and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons about the criminal acts committed by some countries and organizations through entering toxic materials to Syria and sending them to terrorist organizations as to launch chemical attacks and accuse the Syrian army of using them aiming at distorting the image of the Syrian state and the victories achieved by the Syrian army and its allies over the past few months.

The committee’s statement clarified that Syria has recently seized more than 40 tons of chlorine gas in some recently liberated areas in Hama in the presence of the OPCW’s inspectors.

The committee said that it has provided the United Nations and the OPCW with information about  the entry of trucks carrying poisonous materials  into Syria across Bab al-Hawa border crossing on February 22, 2018 and about Jabhat al-Nusra hiding weapons and Sarin gas in an archeological site in al-Bara village of Aleppo countryside on February 2, 2018, as well as about the entry of three Turkish trucks loaded with Chlorine into Idleb’s villages of Qalb Louzeh and al-Habet.

It also said that it referred to the entry of vehicles carrying suspicious barrels to the industrial zone in Idleb in addition to the arrival of  ten trucks loaded with chemical weapons in al-Taman’a village coming from Khan Sheikhoun in addition to the entry of three cars carrying chlorine barrels that are expected to be sent to Abu al-Dhohour area in Idleb countryside.

The committee’s statement pointed out that on February 12th, 2018, after the liberation of Deir Ezzor city from terrorists, six Chlorine gas salenders, the source of which is the al-Kut Company  for Industrial projects in Kuwait. These toxic chemical materials are distributed in terrorist-held areas in Syria.

The committee went on to say that Syria also informed the UN and the OPCW about armed groups’ attempts to use toxic materials and about the training sessions for members of armed groups and the so-called White Helmets on filming fabricated chemical attacks as to later accuse the Syrian government forces of the assault.

Within this context, the committee said, the terrorist organizations and the so-called “White Helmets” committed a crime against the people trapped in eastern Ghouta by terrorists, and the western propaganda tools in the region and abroad, within a well-prepared plan by the governments operating and supporting terrorists, promoted the crime as being committed by the government forces with the purpose of  justifying calls for holding urgent meetings for international organizations.

Syria has repeatedly stressed that it doesn’t possess any kind of chemical weapons and that it hasn’t use chlorine as  a weapon in confrontation of terrorist organizations, the committee went on to say, reaffirming that Syria is most keen on defending its citizens and preventing the use of toxic materials on its territory by whoever .

The committee concluded the statement by condemning the use of chemical weapons in any place or at any time and under any circumstances whatsoever.

If the goal of such a propaganda is to justify new attack on Syria, like the US aggression against al-Sha’airat airbase, the Syrian government will be read to foil such attacks and will hold countries, mainly the United States, Britain, France , Saudi Arabia and Turkey responsible for the use of these toxic materials and for the killing of innocent civilians without any ethical deterrence.
