DAMASCUS, (ST)- Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Sousan has stressed that all those who are carrying weapons against the Syrian state are outlaws and that the western countries are shedding crocodile tears on their tools, namely the terrorists in Eastern Ghouta, not on the innocent civilians there.
Interviewed by the Syrian TV, Sousan said that the Syrian government seeks ridding the people of Eastern Ghouta of the atrocities of the terrorist groups, stressing that the government won’t allow the terrorists to keep civilians as hostages and human shields.
He made it clear that the terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta have fired some 2300 rockets and mortar shells against Damascus that caused the martyrdom and wounding of a big number of civilians and that led to material damage to people’s properties and houses. These attacks necessitated retaliation by the Syrian army in implementation of its constitutional duties to protect the safety of citizens, Sousan said.
Latest UN Report on Syria Biased and Politicized
Sousan dismissed the 48th monthly report of the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs on Syria as biased and politicized, because it ignored the crimes committed against the Syrian people by the terrorists and the US-led coalition.
He said that the recent western political and media campaign launched against Syria aimed at protecting the terrorists against the progress of the Syrian Arab Army in Eastern Ghouta. He pointed out that the western scheme in Syria is foiled and the terrorists in Ghouta will be defeated soon.
The Syrian diplomat went on to say that the Syria government has no problem with the Security Council resolution 2401 because it excludes the terrorists of Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusra and their-affiliated groups from the cessation of hostilities agreement, thus, the Syrian army’s operation in Eastern Ghouta doesn’t contradict this resolution.
He said that claims accusing the Syrian army of using chemical weapons have become disgusting as they lack credibility and evidence, pointing to the information about the three Turkish trucks carrying chlorine and which were bound to the terrorists in Idleb.
