DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has stressed that the US-led coalition continues to perpetrate massacres against the Syrian people and to support Daesh terrorists as to restructure them within the framework of separatist militias that serve Washington, and by doing so, this illegal coalition seeks prolonging the crisis in Syria and undermining the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a letter addressing the UN Chief and President of the Security Council, the ministry talked about the repeated crimes being committed by the illegal US-led coalition against the Syrians, the latest of which were two massacres on Sunday February 25th, 2018 resulted from the coalition’s airstrikes against civilians’ houses in al-Sha’fa and Dhahrat Alouni villages in Deir Ezzour eastern countryside. 29 civilians were martyred, tens others, including women and children, were injured and infrastructure as well as civilians’ houses and properties were destroyed, the ministry said.

“The Syrian Arab Republic urges the Security Council to assume its responsibilities towards preserving international peace and security and to immediately act as to stop the war crimes and the crimes against humanity being perpetrated by this illegal coalition which was formed allegedly to fight Daesh without a UN mandate or a request from the Syrian government,” said the ministry.
Syria also calls for putting an end to the illegal presence of the US forces on the Syrian territory and for preventing the United States from implementing its suspicious schemes which aim at dividing Syria and stealing its resources.
