Popular Backup Forces Arrive in Afrin to help Locals Confront Turkish Aggression

ALEPPO COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- Popular backup forces arrived on Tuesday in the Syrian city of Afrin in Aleppo countryside in order to assist the locals in defending their city and confronting the Turkish aggression which has been continuous since January 20.

According to SANA reporter, the Turkish forces artillery shelling targeted the areas where the popular forces gathered upon their arrival in Afrin. The shelling also targeted the media delegations covering the arrival of the popular forces.

The reporter clarified that the popular backup forces will take part in resistance against both the Turkish aggression and Daesh terrorist organization within the framework of supporting the locals of Afrin, defending Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and foiling attempts by Erdogan’s regime and its terrorists mercenaries to occupy Afrin.

The Turkish regime has been waging a barbaric aggression on Afrin area for more than a month, using various types of weapons and shells including the internationally-prohibited chlorine gas, killing and injuring more than 625 civilians, including women and children, destroying infrastructure, properties, and historical monuments and displacing thousands of civilians from their houses.
