RAQQA, (ST)- Syrian Arab Army units in cooperation with competent authorities found a mass grave containing bodies of scores of civilians and military personnel, who had been killed by Daesh terrorist organization, in the western countryside of Raqqa.
A field commander told SANA reporter in Raqqa that locals, who returned to their villages in Raqqa countryside after the Syrian Army liberated them from Daesh terrorists, informed the army about the existence of a mass grave near al-Ramthan town in Raqqa eastern countryside. An army unit immediately rushed to the site, searched it and found scores of corpses, he said, adding that a civil defense team also came to help pull the corpses out.
One of the civil defense team members said 34 bodies were pulled out and taken to the military hospital in Aleppo in order to adopt legal procedures as to identify the names of the martyrs and hand their bodies to their families.
Late December , an army unit pulled out 115 corpses of civilians and military personnel from a mass grave near al-Wawi town in the Western countryside of Raqqa. The victims had been killed by Daesh terrorists.
On July, 2017, the Syrian army had recaptured Ramthan town as well as tens of neighboring villages from Daesh in a heroic military operation that eliminated the last strongholds of the terrorist organization there.
