Syrian Government Cooperating with International Community to Prevent Chemical Weapons to Reach Terrorists’ Hands: Nebenzia

{jcomments off} NEW YORK, (ST)- Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia has stressed that the Syrian government is cooperating with international community to prevent chemical weapons to reach the hands of the terrorist groups.

During a Security Council meeting on Monday, the Russian diplomat said Moscow is not convinced by the conclusions reached by the UN-OPCW Joint Investigation Mechanism (JIM) on the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

 “Chemical weapons were entirely destroyed by the Syrian government. We won’t revive the joint mechanism as it has lost its credibility,” said Nebenzia, adding that “the data presented by some parties at the Security Council on the use of chemical weapons in Syria are unacceptable in their current formula and they lack evidence.”
