Syria welcomes outcomes of Syrian National Dialogue Congress

Damascus –  Syria welcomes the outcomes of Syrian National Dialogue Congress held on 30 of January of 2018 in the Russian city of Sochi, which has affirmed that the political progress in Syria cannot begin or continue but under the leadership of Syria without any foreign interference, an official source at Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA.

The source added that the concluding statement of the Congress stressed the consensus of the Syrians on adherence to the national principles with regards to preserving the Syrian sovereignty, its territorial integrity and national unity as well as the right of the Syrian people to choose their political and economic systems.

It also affirmed the preservation of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces to fulfill its duty in protecting the national borders and the people from foreign threats, combating terrorism and boosting the state institutions.

The source continued to say that this statement constitutes the basic brick in the political track and the solid basis for launching any dialogues or talks as the Syrian National Dialogue Congress held in Sochi is the first conference to gather this big number of the Syrians representing different social components.

“Syria expresses high appreciation and gratitude to Russia and President Putin for hosting the Congress, proving that it has always been with any political track that would spare the blood of the Syrians and preserve the sovereignty of the country,” the source concluded.
