US and French Anti-Syria Claims about the Use of Chemical Weapons Aim to Hinder Efforts to Solve Crisis

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian Arab Republic has condemned the US and French top diplomats’ claims on the use of chemical weapons in Syria, stressing that the Syrian state has provided suitable circumstances for an objective, honest and professional  investigation into this issue, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Wednesday.

In a statement to SANA, the source added that such claims came within the framework of the policy of systematic political attack on Syria.

“Syria has been ready for cooperation and it has created all suitable circumstances for conducting an objective and professional investigation into the use of chemical weapons in Syria, but powers of the colonialist West have been the parties which hindered the investigation and put huge pressure on investigation teams to politicize it, because any transparent and objective investigation doesn’t serve the West’s agenda in Syria; rather it uncovers the Western powers’ collusion with the terrorist groups. ” the source made it clear, noting that such collusion has been evident in the West’s attempts to cover up the terrorists’ use of chemical weapons in different areas in order to accuse the Syrian government.

 The source went on to say that the history of the policies of the US and its affiliated colonialist western powers is abundant of fabrications and lies.

“What happened in Iraq is still in all’s memories and those who make the fabrications, promote the lies, overstep the authorities of concerned international organizations and put pressure to serve their agendas don’t have credibility or the minimum level of moral and legal standards to be the judge; rather they must be convicted for the crimes they committed against peoples upon colonialism era,” the source said.

“The Syrian city of Raqqa is yet another living example showing the barbaric crimes of the West to destroy Syria and shed the Syrian blood, the source added.

The source concluded the statement by stressing that it is not strange that Syria’s enemies make such accusations and fabrications against the Syrian government days before the holding of the Syrian national Dialogue Congress in the Russian city of Sochi and before the Vienna meeting on Syria, because these anti-Syria countries used to do this before any political development in order to undermine any efforts aiming to find a way out of the crisis in Syria.
