Turkish Aggression against Syria’s Afrin Resulted in Displacement of Thousands of People

ALEPPO, (ST)-Thousands of civilians were displaced from their villages and houses in the city of Afrin and the surrounding villages in Aleppo northern countryside because of the Turkish aggression on Afrin and the random shelling of people’s houses and properties.

Local sources told SANA that ” thousands of civilians left Afrin city after the forces of the Turkish regime bombarded their houses in the city and the surrounding villages in Aleppo northern countryside.”

 Since Saturday of this week, the Turkish forces have been shelling the villages and towns near Afrin claiming the lives of scores of innocent people, injuring many others, displacing many families and causing huge material damage.    

The United Nations has expressed its deep concern over Turkey’s ongoing operation in Afrin in northern Syria and stressed that it forced about 5,000 of people leave their homes. The international organization voiced readiness to provide assistance to some 50,000 people in Afrin as well as to 30,000 displaced civilians.
